During your day in the woods, Harry will teach you the basics of carving green wood. You will start with a spoon blank and using only a straight knife and a hook knife you will learn the safe and efficient way of using these tools, transforming your blank into a carved spoon before lunchtime! After lunch we will focus on the whole process from log to product. You will learn the principles of cleaving wood with a froe or axe. We will then rough out a spoon blank with a carving axe and then put the new skills learned during the morning into practice.

The techniques learned during this full day course will allow you to progress towards carving a plethora of wooden products. Working with green wood can become highly addictive and many comment on the therapeutic nature of the craft.

It will be a nice small group on the day, with a maximum of twelve participants, so you will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and to get to know each other in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
