Saplings Information

We’re looking forward to welcoming you for a woodland adventure soon. Before we do so, there are some important things you need to know:

Location
Hidden Woods is located south of Bath, just off the A36. Please click here to see our map and directions.

Timings

Please arrive up to 15 minutes before the start time of your session. Once parked, please wait under the A-frame shelter in the arrival area, the session leader/s will meet you there just before the scheduled start time.

We know how hard it can be getting little ones out of the house in the mornings, so please don’t worry if you’re running late. If we’ve already set off from the A-frame shelter, then please just head on up to the camp on your arrival (past the A-frame shelter and look for the sign to Beech Camp…you’ll soon see and hear us!).

What’s Involved
We’ll be outside in the woods getting hands on with activities like bushcraft, environmental art and muddy play. The content is very much child-led and so could go in lots of different directions, which is part of the fun of it all!

Weather

As a wise woodsman once said, there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing! Our sessions will go ahead in all but the most extreme weathers, so if it’s just a bit drizzly or windy on the day please dress for the occasion and come on down! We have several large group shelters we can use if necessary.

What to Take/Wear
The following items are essential for events at Hidden Woods:
* Wellies
* Long trousers
* Long sleeve top
* Waterproof jacket
* Hat (for warmth/sun as appropriate!)
* Any medication
* Snacks and water for your group (please no sharing of snacks whilst the coronavirus situation is ongoing) - we will provide coffee, teas and hot chocolate

We also suggest you bring the following with you:
* A complete change of clothes & shoes for the journey home
* Plastic bag for dirty kit

If anyone from your household has any of the symptoms of coronavirus, do not visit Hidden Woods (or anywhere else – stay at home!) for at least 14 days.

We have adopted a wide range of measures in order to minimise the risk of infection from coronavirus at Hidden Woods. You can find out more about these in our Coronavirus Update. In addition to this, we have made the following changes to these toddler sessions:

  • Group sizes capped

  • Everyone asked to bring their own snacks and not to share those with others from outside their household

  • Hot drinks will be prepared/served by the leader rather than everyone preparing their own

If your child or a member of your household develops symptoms of coronavirus within 14 days of your child’s visit, you should self-isolate for 14 days and get tested. In the event of a positive result please ensure that you inform NHS Test & Trace about your visit to Hidden Woods and provide them with our contact details, so that others present during the session/s may be notified.
